Salomons Estate, a country mansion situated just two miles outside Royal Tunbridge Wells has taken first place in the ‘Heritage Wedding Venue of the Year’ category at last night’s Kent Wedding Awards – their second win after scooping the ‘Best Events Team’ award last year.

Wedding professionals across Kent attended the awards ceremony at the Mercure Maidstone Great Danes Hotel for a glitzy black-tie evening.

Now in their 10th year, the Kent Wedding Awards celebrate the best wedding professionals and services that the county has to offer following the thousands of couples who choose Kent as the perfect place to get married.

Traditionally known as the ‘Garden of England’, the county welcomes over 7,000 couples each year to tie the knot, using local venues and suppliers to ensure their day runs smoothly.

The estate’s win follows two of the most difficult years for the wedding sector which has had to cope with lockdowns and other Covid restrictions, but now the venue says things are ‘roaring back’.

‘The award is a testament to our dedicated team, and we couldn’t have done it without the support of our amazing couples that pick us as their wedding venue’ Events Manager Fiona Owens said.

Once the former home of the first ever-Jewish Lord Mayor of London, Salomons Estate has stood as a landmark heritage site in Tunbridge Wells for over 190 years and has seen three generations of the distinguished family make history on several occasions.

‘We are delighted to have been awarded ‘Heritage Venue of the Year’. We were up against some of the most popular historic venues in Kent and to be crowned winner is something we are all very proud of’ Fiona continued.

Now operated by Elite Leisure Collection, the Grade II listed building celebrates all aspects of its history and encourages the public to visit its free museum which was opened in 1938 by third-generation family member Vera Bryce Salomons.

The museum exhibits a fascinating collection of paintings, photographs, and mementos to pay tribute to the spectacular building where couples can now write their very own chapter into its history.
